Abstract:
If China-Japan-Korea FTA located on RCEP was established, what changes would be happened in the three states mutually and with their other trade partners in East Asia and the world? How much extent of trade values between China, Japan and Korea would be increased in CJK FTA based on RCEP? what kinds of influence does CJK FTA bring to sensitive and mutual top exporting industries to the three states and East Asia? We know that China, Japan and Korea adopt robust protection on sensitive goods and face up with the situation of industrial structure transform now. Does CJK FTA based on RCEP can help them achieve their goals? Obviously, these issues cannot be explained by merely qualitative analysis around the documents and policies. However, general equilibrium effect of CJK FTA also deliver a relevant objective answers. In this paper, we use the combination of qualitative and quantitative method to study these issues. Apart from the analysis of governments' working reports and their foreign policies, we also take advantage of gravity model to do an estimation, towards the general equilibrium effect of CJK FTA and RCEP, not only in China, Japan and Korea, but also in the whole East Asia.
