Abstract:

Possibilities and Pitfalls of Current Feminist Foreign Policies

Based on in-depth analysis of seven current Feminist Foreign Policies (FFP), this talk will address the possibilities and pitfalls of this alternative approach to foreign policy. This paper specifically addresses the political economy of current FFPs and how they relate to alternative models of aid, trade and economic international relations. While most current research on FFPs focuses on international norm translation, militarism and security, there is a dearth of literature exploring the political economy of FFPs. This talk will address whether current FFPs demonstrate a meaningful shift to prioritise the care economy and inclusive and non-exploitative trade and aid relationships or whether they continue business as usual.
